Dear AMDAI Member, September 18-26, 2010 marks AMD Week, a yearly celebration mobilizing AMD Alliance International members and others to create awareness of macular disease through media campaigns, advocacy programs, and community outreach. We have a number of exciting initiatives planned to spread the word about the importance of early detection, prevention, available treatments, and support and low vision rehabilitation options. We know that many of you are also planning AMD Week campaigns and we would love to hear about your initiatives.
Attached is a fill-in-the-blank press release for your organization’s use. Please forward it to the appropriate person at your organization. Feel free to modify it and add your own activities and quotes before sending to your local media. During AMD Week, together we can make a powerful impact to help the general population and those at-risk understand the effects of AMD. At the same time we can remind patients that we are here for them and that there is hope and help.
